Passage: 1 Peter 1:10-16
Title: We are a reflection of God's glory.
Outline:
We are reflections of God's glory.
Genesis: We are image-bearers of God. We reflect God to the rest of this world.
We are sinners, but before we were sinners we were image-bearers of God.
Salvation is a work of God. 1 Peter 1:1-2
Foreknowledge of God the Father.
Working of God the Son on the Cross.
Working of God the Holy Spirit in convicting and sanctification.
As such, our beings and who we are as those saved are reflections of God's glory and His working.
The prophets were looking into our salvation that was to come. (1 Peter 1:10-12)
The angels look into the Church to understand more of God's glory. (Ephesians 3:8-11)
Therefore...
Reflect God's glory. Be Holy for He is Holy.
Act as such.
Resolve in your minds the truth of who God is and who we are in Him.
Study the Scriptures
Be disciplined.
Set your hope on Christ's Second Coming.

Sermon Notes (14FEB10)
Passage: 1 Peter 1:1-13
Title: Strangers in this world.
Introduction
The Bible is not just a religious document that fell from the heavens as we sometimes envision it to be.
It was written by real people, living in a real time.
Peter and Paul were people who witnessed real events.
Faith
Faith is hard because it is the intersection of the unseen world and the seen world.
As Christians we are strangers to this world because we are new creatures and beings who become the intersection of heaven and earth (N. T. Wright).
We can be encouraged by the fact that the struggle of faith (the doubts that spring up, the obedience in the face of opposition) is known by God.
It is this struggle of living the spiritual reality in the physical world that refines our faith.
We should be encouraged by the fact that God designed it this way and knows our struggle: "Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even thought you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Pastor Joe's Sermon Notes
Passage: 2 Tim. 2:20-21
Title: Being ready for good purposes.
Outline:
Introduction:
In any house, there are articles that have noble purposes and some that have ignoble purposes.
We are the house in Paul's analogy.
What this is not about:
Faith vs. Works
Salvation is not through good works. Salvation is a gift from God. Eph. 2:8-10.
God the Father predestined us, God the Son paid the price and God the Spirit calls us to faith.
All other major religions are about earning our way to heaven. Traveling up the mountain to God.
However, in reality, there is no road that will take us high enough. God comes down to us.
Good Works. Eph. 2:8-10.
Good works are not the way to salvation. They are what we get to do. They are what we were designed for.
God even prepared good works for us.
Morphing. Heb. 12:1-3
Removing the sin that entangles us.
Fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Running with perseverance and disciplining our bodies to the purpose at hand.
